This disc continues Schupak’s outstanding videos for youth sports self-instruction and coaching. It includes 34 separate offensive skill exercises that can be practiced with one or two players at one end of the court or on the player’s hoop-equipped driveway, occasionally augmented by a garbage can “defender.” The emphasis here is on making the exercises fun. Creativity is encouraged, and the positive effects of preparation and repetition are noted. Bonus features (“Form Shooting” and “Review of Offensive Moves”) place the moves in perspective. Very highly recommended for young athletes and their coaches.

-Midwest Book Review
Another solid presentation from sports coach Marty Schupak, Offensive Basketball Moves (the company’s 21st release) centers on drills and tips to help players get defenders out of the way so they can take a shot at the basket. Directed at coaches as well as team members, each exercise is shown clearly, with an explanation of the rationale behind fakes, slides, shimmies, sleight of hand, and jumps. Filmed on a home court in the center of an asphalt driveway with a single backboard, the program features one or two kids and an adult instructor, backed by creative props (a garbage can sometimes serves as a stand-in for a player, while at one point noisemakers and a broom are held aloft and waved in the air for a lesson in how to ignore distractions while shooting). Several segments cover form shooting, with one of the most interesting being a sequence developed by former pro and college coach George Mikan, in which the shooter grabs the ball, shoots a layup, takes two steps for the rebound, and then starts all over again in the opposite direction to create a perpetual bucket machine in a very limited space. Recommended.
